As new military technologies accelerate operational challenges and stress conventional defensive systems, directed energy capabilities have emerged as persuasive, transformative technologies uniquely suited to an increasingly compressed and complex threat environment. Various Radio Frequency (RF), laser- and microwave-based directed energy solutions have been demonstrated to high technological maturity levels and mission readiness, with High-Powered Microwaves (HPM) in particular proving suitable for a broad range of military (and commercial) applications. The Microwave Moment examines the performance characteristics of these solutions, as well as various requirements, acquisition, and budgeting adjustments necessary to ensure that HPM and other DE technological solutions are rapidly delivered to the warfighter.
